Sherman Phillips and Durwood Mayfield met with David Pierce, principal of the Arnett Elementary School. Mr. Pierce was very excited that his school had been chosen as one of our target schools for the BikeTexas Safe Routes to School Program. The location of this school lends to it’s uniqueness in that it is a true neighborhood school. The neighborhood is small and therefore the student enrollment of Arnett is also small.
Mr. Pierce was evidently very proud of his school and his students. He told us even they are the smallest school in the system they were probably the best readers. His students were taught not only to read but to love reading.
It will be a pleasure to work with this school and it’s staff.
