Amarillo BikeTexas Local Outreach Coordinator, Fernando Martinez, was invited to a meeting with Amarillo City Hall officials. Steve Hayward, Ken Graham, and Larry Offerdahl (Director-Amarillo Parks and Recreation), among others, were present to discuss the implementation of the Amarillo Bike Routes Plan. Fernando was asked to comment on, and discuss the importance of fully developing bike lanes, and bike routes around all streets immediately surrounding Amarillo Public Schools.
Currently the route map includes only some of the surrounding streets in the SW part of Amarillo. The following is a list of schools that are involved in the first part of the project.

Avondale Elementary School
Crockett Middle School
