Cyclists from around the state to attend Bicycle Lobby Day
AUSTIN –On Monday, February 25, people from around the state of Texas who ride bikes will gather in East Austin and ride to the Capitol as a group before visiting every legislative office.
Bicycle Lobby Day participants will depart from the BikeTexas office on E 5th Street at 11 AM en route to the Capitol, a 2.9-mile trip. This year marks the first time that a bike tour has been included as part of the lobby day.
“We’re excited to not only have bicyclists riding onto the Capitol grounds in their business attire, but also to demonstrate the capabilities of our electric bicycles for making it easy to ride a bike without breaking a sweat,” says Robin Stallings, BikeTexas executive director. “We’re looking forward to telling legislators that we biked to the Capitol.”
The bike ride is anticipated to arrive at the Capitol between 11:30 AM and 12:00 PM. Best visuals of the group ride will be when the group is northbound on Congress Avenue from 3rd Street, or when the group arrives on the south side of the Capitol.
BikeTexas, founded in 1991, is the statewide bicycle and pedestrian advocacy and education organization. BikeTexas’ mission is encourage and promote bicycling, increased safety, and improved conditions for people who ride bikes in Texas.
