Texas Bicycle Coalition Education Fund (TBCEF) staff has put significant time and resources into the production of bicycle safety education material in every-day Spanish.
A TBCEF paper on this effort has been published to the on-line library of the Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center (PBIC). The TBCEF article is titled “Bringing Bicycle Education to Spanish-Speaking Communities.” It is based on TBCEF work in Amarillo through the now-ended BikeTexas Safe Routes to School Program (funded by the U.S.DOE Carol M. White Physical Education Program from 2004 to 2007).
The article can be downloaded at http://www.bicyclinginfo.org/library/details.cfm?id=4156.
PBIC is a national clearinghouse for information about health and safety, engineering, advocacy, education, enforcement, access, and mobility for pedestrians (including transit users) and bicyclists. They are funded by the Federal Highway Administration and housed within the University of North Carolina Highway Safety Research Center in Chapel Hill, NC.
