Getting There: Viva! Streets 2015

Viva! Streets Austin is coming up fast! Join us on E 6th Street on September 13 from 12-5 PM as we celebrate healthy living and fitness while we play in the street.

Getting There: Viva! Streets 2015

E 6th will be closed from I-35 eastward past Robert Martinez Street. (Chicon and Comal streets will allow for cross traffic with police guidance.) There is some parking available on neighboring streets, but we encourage everyone to find non-driving options if possible to avoid congestion at the event. If you live in the neighborhood, please consider walking. You will be able to enter anywhere along 6th, so put on your walking shoes and head on down.

We love bikes! Ride your bike to Viva! Streets and then ride along the street to see what’s happening on every block. Bring a lock with you in case you decide to visit one of the local businesses. What route to take? Try one of these:

  • Take the Rosewood park trail (begins at Alexander south of Boggy Creek) or at E. 12th Street down to Pedernales. Then take Pedernales to E. 6th Street.
  • Take the Boardwalk to the Longhorn Bridge to get to E. 6th.
  • Take Shoal Creek Trail to get to W. 3rd Street.
  • Take the Johnson Creek Trail to get to W. 5th Street.

If neither of those options work for you, catch a ride with Capital Metro. Routes 4, 21/22, 17, and 320 all pass close by 6th Street and will bring you to where the action is. Buy a day pass on the app or on board for $2.50 and they’ll bring you here and back again. As a bonus, all buses now have real-time arrival info available on the app, by text message via Dadnab at (512) 981-6221, and on the website at capmetro.org. See when your bus is coming so you don’t miss it!

However you get here, we’ll see you on September 13!
