In October 2005, Volunteers, PTA members, and PE teachers met with Texas Bicycle Coalition staff, arriving before students, at 4 Fort Worth schools to track the modes of children’s arrival to school. Diamond Hill, J.T. Stevens, M.L. Phillips and Sunrise-McMillan participated in data collection that will be used to help measure the influence of the SuperCyclist Curriculum and the BikeTexas Safe Routes to School Program. Another count this spring will determine whether or not more students bike or walk to school after receiving the safety training and safe routes to school encouragement. Starbucks graciously donated the coffee for the pre-dawn, cold morning gathering of data collectors.
