The Children’s Fair was presented by Clear Channel Radio at the Amarillo Civic Center – North Exhibit Hall on Saturday, April 29, and Sunday, April 30, 2006. More than 2,000 kids from around the Amarillo area to attended the two day event.
Booths with free of charge activities included Imagination Station (arts & crafts), miniature golf, bubbles, giant legos, petting zoo, kid ID cards, sand tables, beading, bounce houses, let’s make music, crazy roller racers, puppet theater, and a science lab. Nonprofit organizations included CASA, Crime Stoppers, National Weather Service, Wildcat Bluff, Texas Bicycle Coalition, NonStop, Amarillo Fire Department and Public Library.
It was an easy way for kids of all ages to get some exercise and have fun indoors during the much needed rainy day. Interactive games attracted crowds to stimulate the imagination and the cognitive skills as children challenged their parents in many games. The NonStop Dance Pad proved to be a good workout for most players. Outreach Coordinators Martinez and Cunningham entertained the kids with a bicycle challenge quiz and safety education while they waited for their turn at the dance pad next door.
This year, the event was sponsored by Bob Mills Furniture, Academy Sports & Outdoors, Children’s Exchange & Ladies Two, and last but not least Clear Channel Radio. We are glad so many folks came to play and have a great time. We hope you enjoyed it and will participate in the event again next year.
