City explores grant options
By Joe Chapman
Excerpts:
Kenneth Graham, member of the Amarillo Parks and Recreation Commission and of the Old Tascosa Cycling Club, has said the grants could be valuable for enhancing cycling corridors in Amarillo.
“Our community already has identified several projects worthy of grant money. Those projects include enhancements to the Rock Island Rail Trail, Amarillo Bike Route plan, Safe Routes to School and the Old Soncy Trail,” Graham wrote in an e-mail to Mayor Debra McCartt and City Commissioner Paul Harpole.
Graham cited information from the Texas Bicycle Coalition that advised projects located near schools or that attract tourists are more likely to be approved.
