SafeCyclist Certification Training Information

The SafeCyclist Certification Training provides teachers, police and youth community workers with bicycle and pedestrian safety skills and the curriculum needed to teach these life saving skills to their students. The 3 to 6 hour certification course is a combination of classroom and active lessons.  In the active lessons, the trainees play the games as if they were the students. By training the trainers, BikeTexas is able to reach the most 4th and 5th graders with the SafeCyclist life saving bicycle and pedestrian safety lessons.

Request a new training session.

Since, 1999 the SafeCyclist Program has certified over 4000 Physical Education teachers, police and community youth workers to teach the SafeCyclist Curriculum to 4th and 5th grade elementary students. Highly skilled SafeCyclist Certified Field Instructors conduct the informative and interactive trainings.

Comments from certified teachers:

” I think SafeCyclist is a wonderful program for my students. I have been teaching bike safety for 22 years. My students still get excited about it, they love riding the bikes during PE time and many do not have bikes at home. I think the video and curriculum have really helped my students a lot! …. Thanks a bunch for what you do to teach our students bicycle safety!!

“…We were all so glad to receive teacher training that was both meaningful and relevant to our teaching field. You don’t know how many times we have had to sit through teacher trainings that didn’t apply to us. I think everyone got a lot of good ideas and guidance from your training.”
Janice Mangrum
PE Teacher/Team Leader
Fuentes Elementary, Kyle, TX

“This is one of the best programs I’ve been involved with. Thank you for letting me be a participant – my students will benefit greatly. I am seeing the results myself as I observe my students riding their bikes to school. This makes me feel that I am making a difference in their safety and well-being. Thank you once again for a great program!”
