TxDOT Holding Trans-Texas Corridor Public Hearings This Summer
Texas Bicycle Coalition encourages Texas cyclists to attend a Trans-Texas Corridor public hearing hosted by the Texas Department of Transportation. The hearings will provide citizens an opportunity to learn about and comment on Trans-Texas Corridor 35 that will traverse Texas from Oklahoma to Mexico.
CarShare Arrives in Texas
Texas recently received its first CarShare program, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving transportation options. Austin CarShare is now pre-enrolling members and will be launching Austin’s first car share program this fall. Service will initially be focused on the downtown and The University of Texas areas.

This year, Texas Bicycle Coalition turns 15! To celebrate its 15th year of providing Texans with professional bicycle advocacy and safety education, the Coalition will hold a live auction with great bicycle collectibles at the Hotter’N Hell Hundred in Wichita Falls. On May 17, 2006, thousands of Texas cyclists took to the streets in the international Ride of Silence. Seventeen Ride of Silence events were held throughout Texas. According to media reports and conservative counts, there were approximately 4,000 riders at all the Texas events.
