BikeTexas is very excited to announce our new, coming soon… Texas Trails Specialty License Plate! We’d like to extend a special thanks to Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) staff, who, with deadlines running down to the wire, really stepped up for us to make these plates a reality. With their help, able designer Mark Barnett, and the generous assistance of the Texas Education Agency, BikeTexas was able to design, submit, pass approval committee and pass design specification and reflectivity tests for all three of the plate designs, just in time. And now we need your help!
With your help, BikeTexas must choose and submit the final design to TxDOT before Thanksgiving and must raise the $8,000 necessary to offset the fee required by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles to begin production. That’s where you come in… cast your vote (as many votes as you wish) on which design you like best and your $2 per vote, tax-deductible donation will help us pay the required fees. Plus, your vote(s) will count towards which plate is chosen to represent Texas’ Trails! Click here to vote!
Once they are made available to the public for use on cars, motorcycles, trucks and trailers, the proceeds ($22 of the $30 annual fee) will benefit the BikeTexas Education Fund (501c3) Community Trails* programs.
*The BikeTexas Community Trails program goals are to identify, develop and promote multi-use trails and routes throughout Texas for runners, walkers, cyclists, and other non-motorized users.
