One downtown Austin church is taking a wheels-on approach to serving the community and being a good steward of their resources—St. David’s Episcopal Church offers secure bike parking and showers for commuters.
“St. David’s Commuter Bike Parking Program is our way of supporting the Austin bicycle community,” says Lisa Kay Pfannenstiel, who coordinates the bike parking program. “People who ride bikes are easing congestion downtown as well as pursuing a healthy, fun lifestyle, and this program is designed to make their lives a little easier if they don’t otherwise have access to parking or showers downtown.”
An indoor bike storage space is $20 per month, while an outside locker is $40 per month. See more details here. Clean up after your ride using one of their complementary showers, and you can recharge for your day at the on-site Holy Grounds coffee shop.
