The 2nd Annual “Walk N Rolla” Walking and Biking Festival in Edinburg took place on March 10, 2012.
A main street downtown streets was closed to cars and open to people walking, riding, and having a great time.
Walk n Rolla is organized by the Hidalgo County MPO as part of their ongoing efforts to move towards healthier lifestyles in the future.
BikeTexas set up a booth to offer our Safe Routes to School safety and skills information, and to discuss our advocacy efforts, collect Complete Streets petition signatures, and offer free bike rentals.
Ciclistas Urbanos organized a great Bike Rodeo for kids, the Texas Medical Association gave out helmets as part of their Hard Hats for Little Heads program, and there were 5 and 10 mile free bike rides, in addition to a metric century. It was an impressive turnout considering the record low temperatures in the 50’s all day!
Executive Director Robin Stallings, SRTS Program Managers Brenda Chuleewah and Fernando Martinez, Membership Coordinator Jack Sanford, CATS Program Manager Donna Hoffman, and Administrative Assistant Ann Harkness all attended from BikeTexas.
