At crucial moments during the session, we’ll send out Action Alerts via email, Twitter, Facebook, and the BikeTexas website. However you choose to receive alerts, make sure you’re getting them.
Frequently, BikeTexas specifically targets Action Alerts to folks whose legislator is in a position to affect (for good or bad) bills important to people who bike and walk in Texas. Usually, these legislators will be members of the transportation or calendars committees. We do our best not to send you an Action Alert if your legislator isn’t voting on a bill; however, sometimes our records do have folks in the wrong district.
We generally do not send out pre-written text for you to use when contacting your representatives, because in our experience, elected officials respond better to a message in your own words than to the same canned message sent in by multiple people. However, we will provide all the information you need to write your own message in every alert.
Have you moved since the last legislative session? You may be in a different legislative district. Check out who represents you here and let us know so we can update your address and keep you in the loop when your input is critical.
