Texas Bicycle Coalition’s Trail Program Coordinator, Mark Stine, attended the NPS Listening session in San Antonio last week and was able to gain information regarding how the future plans for the National Parks Service (NPS) will affect Texas Mountain biking in both NPS facilities and local communities. STORM’s very own, George Longoria spoke to the gathering about some of the benefits of mountain biking activities and trails at NPS facilities.
We want to share that information with you and encourage you to provide your comments to the NPS forum before April 2nd at their website: www.nps.gov/2016 Key words such as “mountain bikes” and “kids” are important as NPS will electronically scan the thousands of entries they receive.
Please forward this information to other interested mountain bikers. We would like to ensure a good response to the NPS regarding these programs and show our support of National Parks. IMBA, a long-time partner of Texas Bicycle Coalition, is working closely with the NPS and setting up a grassroots campaign to provide communities with information about the programs that will be involved.
Texas Bicycle Coalition will provide further information on our website: www.biketexas.org so, please continue to check back for updates.
