Virtual National Bike Summit: February 28 – March 3, 2021

Make Your Voice Heard at the National Bike Summit!

As we move into a new year, and a new administration in Washington D.C., there will be new opportunities for biking. A very important way for you to make an impact and advance biking access and safety this year is to participate in the National Bike Summit.

In 2021, we may have the biggest opportunity in more than a decade to double or triple funding for bike and pedestrian projects at the national level. But to do that, our members of Congress need to hear from Texans who bike and walk.

And that’s where the National Bike Summit comes in. The final day of the Summit is lobby day, when we’ll meet with Texas’ congressional staffers and tell them about biking and walking in the Lone Star State. With this year’s unique virtual format keeping costs low, plus the opportunities for a transportation bill in the new Congress, there’s never been a better time for more Texans to attend. Learn more about the National Bike Summit and sign up here.

Texas Representatives, and especially Texas Republicans, are critical to making bicycle and pedestrian funding a priority in any transportation bill. The Texas delegation is large and carries a lot of influence, so your voice matters! Congressional staffers have many demands on their time, so for many offices, getting a meeting with a staffer will depend on having people from their district registered for the National Bike Summit. Whether you are new to the National Bike Summit, or are a seasoned veteran, this is the year to engage.

BikeTexas is the state coordinator for the Texas congressional meetings and will lead our delegation through the meetings. Even if you have never met with people from a legislative office before, rest assured that there will be experienced people participating. They will be there to help you put your best foot forward as you represent your district.

This year will offer tremendous opportunities for active transportation in Texas. We need you at the National Bike Summit to make sure that we can turn this opportunity into results for Texas!

How to Register for the National Bike Summit
