Luci Baines Johnson and Ian Turpin

Austin

Luci Baines Johnson is a businesswoman and philanthropist and the younger daughter of U.S. President Lyndon Baines Johnson and former First Lady Lady Bird Johnson.

Since 1993, Johnson has been the Chairman of the Board and manager of LBJ Family Wealth Advisory, LTD, as well as Chairman of the Board of BusinesSuites, a national operator of executive suites, which she co-founded with her husband in 1989. She received a BLS in Communication from St. Edward’s University in 1997.

She is on the Board of Directors of the LBJ Foundation and has served on multiple civic boards, raising funds for The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and the American Heart Association, acting as trustee of Boston University, and as a member of the advisory board of the Center for Battered Women.

Ian Turpin is President of LBJ Family Wealth Advisors, Ltd., a family-owned wealth management firm in Austin, Texas. As President of LBJ Family Wealth Advisors, Ian focuses his time on meeting the wealth preservation needs of multigenerational family clients.

For the past 18 years, Ian has supervised the holdings of the family of the late President Lyndon B. Johnson – where he managed several successful organizational restructurings, including exits from various family-owned and operated businesses, and subsequent redeployment of the proceeds.

Prior to moving to Texas in 1992 from Toronto, Ian had a 20-year career as an international private banking executive with two of Canada’s most prominent banks, both in Canada and in offshore financial centers. The focus of his work was asset protection services and investments for offshore clients. While working in the Bahamas for an affiliate of Royal Bank of Canada, Ian taught courses for the U.K. Institute of Bankers in Nassau.

Ian currently serves on the boards of Texas Capital Bancshares, BusinesSuites Ltd., and St. Edward’s University on which he chairs the Fiduciary Committee. He is a member of the Audit Committee of the Seton Family of Hospitals, and sits on the Investment Sub-Committee of Ascension Health, the parent of the Seton Family of Hospitals and the largest not-for-profit hospital group in the United States.

Born in Scotland, Ian was educated in England where he received a Master’s degree in International Business from The University of Bradford, Yorkshire, England. He is a Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (CPA equivalent).
