There will be activities for everyone of all ages like dancing, soccer, bike obstacle courses, and tennis, “ says Paola Barrerra of Buenos Aires Café Este.

For more information about the event and the latest activities, visit www.vivastreetsatx.org. This year’s sponsors include Humana, TxDOT, SkyCandy, AARP, Texas Gas Service, CapMetro, Central Texas Mobility Authority/Metropia, City of Austin Office of Sustainability, TopGolf, Instacart, and Austin’s Yellow Bike Project.

The mission of ViVA! Streets is to build communities by transforming public streets and encouraging active living though recreation, fitness activities, and healthy food options.

VIVA! Streets is co-produced by the City of Austin and BikeTexas.

VIVA! Streets is part of a national movement of open streets events with more than 100 documented initiatives in North America, including Texas cities Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Fort Worth, El Paso, and Brownsville. These open streets events are increasingly common in cities seeking innovative ways to achieve environmental, social, economic, and public health goals by temporarily closing streets to automobile traffic, so that people may use them for walking, bicycling, dancing, playing, and socializing.
