November Comes and November Goes

BikeTexas and TxDOT worked together to fight off a bike ban in 2005.

Take a look at some bond elections that benefitted bicycle infrastructure in Texas, also from 2005.

Burkburnett ISD joined the Safe Routes to School program in 2006 with their first teacher training.

Lubbock's Tech Terrace neighborhood got an upgrade to make it safer to walk to school, also as part of SRTS, in 2006.

The proposed Old Texas 20 bicycle route took some strides forward in November of 2006.

Students from Huston-Tillotson and UT Austin learned new bike skills and put them into practice on one November day in 2009.

Cypress Fairbanks Training teacher training biketexas 2008After the San Antonio Bikes summit in November 2009, people who ride bikes in San Antonio went for a ride with then-mayor Julián Castro.

Brownsville held their first CycloBia in November 2012. In the two years since then, the program has grown to a four-times-a-year event, with some of them held at night. Brownsville hopes to soon become the U.S. city that's hosted the most Open Streets events.

In 2012, Fort Worth became the fourth Texas city to receive a Bicycle Friendly Community designation from the League of American Bicyclists, earning an honorable mention.
