Local Political Bike Ride Develops Government Relationships

Friday, April 29, cyclists in Austin joined Mayor Will Wynn and several city council candidates for a bike ride through downtown. The tenth annual Political Pedal was organized by members of Austin’s cycling community and sponsored by the Austin Cycling Association and other community partners. Texas Bicycle Coalition provided posters, logistical support and resources for participants.

Houston Cycling Community Wants Bike Racks on Busses

BikeHouston, Citizen’s Transportation Coalition, Texas Bicycle Coalition and other partner organizations are working with local government officials to urge the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (Harris County Metro) to put bike racks on Houston city busses. Organizers feel they’re making good progress on this critical issue, but they need more help from local cyclists.

Fort Worth Cyclists Asking City Council to Step up Commitment

In 2003, the Fort Worth City Council made a commitment to improve conditions for cyclists in the city as part of an effort to improve air quality. Since that commitment was made on paper, little has been accomplished. Now, the Fort Worth cycling community needs help from local cyclists to convince the council to fulfill its commitment.

IMBA Summit/World Mountain Bike Conference Occurs in June

The International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) invites you to a global gathering of mountain bike leaders, land managers, bicycle industry and ski resort planners in Whistler, British Columbia, June 20-23. Whistler is a model city for every kind of riding, from beginner trails to epic cross-country riding and, of course, the world famous Whistler Mountain Bike Park.
