What Can I Do: Action Alerts

Action AlertAt crucial moments during the session, we'll send out Action Alerts via email, Twitter, Facebook, and the BikeTexas website. However you choose to receive alerts, make sure you're getting them.

Frequently, BikeTexas staff needs to specifically target Action Alerts to members and supporters who are constituents of a particular legislator who is in a position to affect (for good or bad) legislation important to BikeTexas members. A common example is a member of a transportation committee who may represent a part of the state that does not have a large number of bike/ped advocates. BikeTexas staff seeks to avoid emailing you for Action Alerts if your participation will not affect the outcome at that time.

BikeTexas rarely sends out pre-written text for you to use when contacting your representatives, because in our experience, elected officials respond better to a message in your own words than to the same canned message sent in by multiple people. However, we will provide all the information you need to write your own message in every alert.

Have you moved since the last legislative session? You may be in a different legislative district. Check out who represents you here and  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  so we can update your address and keep you in the loop when your input is critical.
