Coalition Wraps Up Katrina BikeAid Project

Thank you to all of the generous donors and supporters that made the Katrina BikeAid project possible. This amazing feat was only possible through the coordinated efforts of several Texas organizations and businesses and hundreds of individual donors.

Amarillo Sets the Bar for Bike-Friendly Texas Cities

The City of Amarillo distributed an insert in its December utility bill educating the public about the new bike lanes in the city. Texas Bicycle Coalition worked with city staff by helping create the content and design for the bike lane insert. This is a great idea for other cities to consider as they strive to become more bike-friendly. View the bike-friendly information that Amarillo distributed to the public.

BikeTexas Katrina BikeAid Collecting Thousands of Bikes

The BikeTexas Katrina BikeAid project will hold a bicycle collection celebration on Saturday, November 19, from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm. at the Bicycle Sport Shop central location (517 S. Lamar) in Austin. Everyone who donates a working bike that day is invited to enjoy complimentary food, drink and entertainment. The goal is to collect one bicycle per minute – or 540 bicycles – on November 19.

One thousand bicycles have already been collected and distributed in Texas, but demand and need still remain high. Cash contributions are also critical to the success of this important mission.
