National Association of Realtors supports Complete Streets

The National Association of Realtors (NAR) is a solid supporter of Complete Streets laws and policies across the country.

The NAR has recognized that home buyers and renters across all demogrpahics prefer neighborhoods that are safe, have less car traffic, and offer easily accessible walking and biking options for local transportation.

The website www.realtor.org/transtools offers a wide range of news and studies that support the connection between desirable communities and active transportation.

Speaking specifically about Complete Streets, the NAR says:

“Complete streets” refers to the concept that roads should meet everyone’s needs, not just motorists but also walkers, bicycle riders, and bus riders. A growing number of communities are using complete streets policies to reduce accidents, get people more physically active, and promote walkable neighborhoods, which have held their property values during the current downturn. Complete streets policies will increase in importance as a greater proportion of Americans reach old age and are forced to give up driving."
