|
Wednesday, 29 August 2007 |
Michael and Milissa Day sponsor a Tri Camp for youngsters at Rocking River Aquatics located at the beautiful Old Settler's Park near Round Rock, TX. The couple purchased 200 helmets through Texas Bicyle Coalition's BELL Helmet by the Dozen Program. The young participant's were fitted with helmets, discussed the seven Texas Bicycle Laws, and practiced riding, hand signals, communicating with fellow riders, signaling and stopping on the SuperCyclist Skills Course.
Brenda Chuleewah, Texas Bicycle Coalition's Teacher Trainer Manager, played the Seven Texas Law Turnover Game, fitted helmets and set up the course. The children enjoyed the activities and the chance to practice riding their bikes.
We would like to thank Peter Stankard, owner of Southwest Cyclist
Sport, for taking the time to join us and being so kind as to inspect
each of the young triathlete's bikes to be sure they were all safe.
We also wish to thank Nancy Curtiss, a PE teacher from Double File
Trail Elementary School, Jerry Flores, Jen Nieman, Angela Beechum and
Malinda Baca-Price for being such helpful volunteers.
