Old Tascosa Cycling Club 2007 Banquet
Monday, 29 January 2007

Amarillo weather finally allowed the Old Tascosa Cycling Club to hold their Annual meeting Sunday, January 28, 2007. Weather conditions of snow and ice postponed the meeting from two previous dates this year.

60 members attended the Banquet with over 90 memberships issued for 2007. Guests for the event were Mayor Debra McCartt, City Commissioner Paul Harpole, City Traffic Engineer Taylor Withrow, City Community Relations Coordinator Lyndy Forrester, and the local Multiple Sclerosis Society Events Director April Brownlee. Members voted for the 2007 Board of Directors and on By-laws changes. The Club accomplishments for 2006 and plans for 2007 events were recapped.

Special recognition was give to: Mayor Debra McCartt for continuing progressive initiatives in support of a cycle friendly community, Cindy Whitney for organizing weekly road rides, Elliot McKinney for his efforts with the “Pain on the Plains” race and trail maintenance, Joyce Cunningham for continued efforts with safe cycling advocacy and membership growth, Ken Graham and Lisa Jernigan-Graham for promoting cycling as a family sport, and Michael Wilhelm for dedicating time and resources to provide our greatest communication tool, the website.

Enjoying old friends and meeting new ones over the delicious Mexican meal from Leal’s Mexican Restaurant completed the socializing
