We regret to inform our friends and supporters that the BikeTexas Safe Routes to School program will be on hiatus over the summer, beginning June 1, 2006. The program was originally designed to only function during the school year, but Texas Bicycle Coalition sought additional funding to operate the program year round. Anticipated additional funding to keep the program operating through the summer has not materialized.

Some of the program’s local outreach coordinators will continue working on a volunteer basis during the summer months. All local outreach coordinators can still be reached at their BikeTexas email address. The BikeTexas Safe Routes to School program will resume by October 1, 2006, and it may resume sooner.
