BikeTexas Trail Doctors Program Report
Friday, 02 June 2006

In a five month period, November 1, 2005 through March 31, 2006, the BikeTexas Trail Doctors completed approximately 18 miles of trail in 12 locations around the state. This is a highly cost-effective program for Texas.

Through the utilization of 280 volunteers who provided 2,960 hours of their time to build these trails, the BikeTexas Trail Doctors are able to complete trail at a fraction of the cost the state would have to pay using a very reasonable rate per linear foot established by the International Mountain Biking Association’s trail building program.

Furthermore, many of these volunteers are members of local mountain biking clubs that then commit to maintaining the trails, providing long-term stewardship at no cost to the state.
