Collecting Bikes for Katrina Evacuees in Austin

Excerpts:
How would you get to work or the grocery store or school if you lost your only means of transportation? It's a question many hurricane evacuees struggle with everyday here in Austin. Now there's a way you can Make A Difference.

"I'm a resident of New Orleans," Warren said. "I've lived there a few years. Shortly after the hurricane, I got a call from the Texas Bicycle Coalition, asking me if I'd coordinate this program."

It's called BikeAid.

"We're asking folks to donate gently-used bikes bikes ready to hit the road running, and those bikes will be redistributed for folks evacuated from both hurricanes," Warren said.
