As Published - BikeTexas Today - Bike Smarts & Education - August - October 2004

Since our last edition of BikeTexas Today, the Trail Docs – Dr. Susan Stormer and Ryan Spates – have crisscrossed the state numerous times to improve Texas trails. (If you haven't checked out www.biketexas.org lately, you've missed the Docs' exciting diary entries, in which they describe their adventures.) The Docs were also in Washington, D.C. in early June for the International Mountain Bike Association Summit, where they discussed their work building and rehabilitating Texas trails. Due to their professionalism and expertise, the Docs have made quite an impression on many Texans, including some of our state public officials. This spring, Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept. Director Walt Dabney gave them an extraordinary endorsement by instructing state parks not to begin any new trails until they've consulted with the Docs.
