International Walk to School Day
Tuesday, 22 July 2008
In order to help promote Texas' Safe Routes to School Program, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has announced that it will provide schools in Texas with reflective pull zippers to distribute to students. To receive the incentive, schools must register for the International Walk to School Day on October 8th, 2008, an event where communities from over 40 countries join together to walk and bicycle to school.

More information about these incentives will be provided later this summer but TxDOT has asked Texas Bicycle Coalition to please encourage our SuperCyclist schools and certified teachers to register now as they have a limited quantity of the zipper pulls available.

Registration is currently open, free and available to individuals or organizations holding a Walk to School event in the US. To register a Walk to School event, please visit www.walktoschool.org/register. Registered schools will be displayed on an interactive U.S. map on the U.S. Walk to School Web site, where neighboring communities, media and other organizations will be able to view participating schools.
