Dear Robin, Gayle and Claire:
I just want you guys to know that I have my Texas license plate displayed proudly in my rear windshield, and that I've had it that way since I bought it from you on the Galibier in July.
Thank you for being such gracious hosts and hostesses when I was visiting you guys. What a great experience! It was my second Tour, and when the peloton was getting ready to come by, I was just as giddy as if it was my first. I've got the video on order, and hopefully I'll see some people/things I recognize!

We just wanted to thank the BikeTexas team on the Col du Galibier for the hospitality given to me and my friend the day before the tour. It was freezing cold, we were soaked, and saw the inviting canapy for a quick shelter from the very harsh elements.
We were riding the arduous circuit of the Galibier and had already done the Col du Glandon, Valloire and Col du Lauteret back to le Bourge D'Oissans. (100mile).

It seems everywhere we go now we see U.S. flags and cheering Americans. These are the last few moments of this phase what will certainly a long career and the world is watching.
The people in general have been polite and accepting of Lance and his wins while some seemed outright hostile. Just like a good football game between the Aggies and UT, emotions will run high on both sides. Overall it was an excellent experience dealing with the foreign press from numerous stations. Lucky for us they couldn't all cover Lance at the same time so we made good (and informative) fodder for their viewers.

John Kerry with Souvenir Plates in Paris |
|
Tuesday, 02 August 2005 |

John Kerry along with many other notables were in Paris for Lance's record setting 7th and last race. Senator Kerry, as well as, a gaggle of European press were all interested in the BikeTexas convoy and our cause celebre, bicycling education, Safe Routes to school and more. Media attention was high and we took every opportunity to let them interview us. Our cause and purpose won many a cycling fan over regardless of nationality. Everyone over here understands the beauty and importance of cycling for the pure enjoyment of it and the sport. |

Stage 11 News from the Tour |

BikeTexas and fellow Texans were well positioned at stage 11, near the peak of Col du Galibier. We had an amazing view of this major mountain climb in the Alps and of course Lance just keeps adding time to his lead. Austin, Dallas and Houston were represented.
Texas and the Lance Armstrong license plates have been a hit with the press; international media has interviewed and filmed the BikeTexas entourage. |
