TxDOT Holding Trans-Texas Corridor Public Hearings This Summer |
Tuesday, 18 July 2006 |
Texas Bicycle Coalition encourages Texas cyclists to attend a Trans-Texas Corridor public hearing hosted by the Texas Department of Transportation. The hearings will provide citizens an opportunity to learn about and comment on Trans-Texas Corridor 35 that will traverse Texas from Oklahoma to Mexico.
Local cyclists should attend the meetings to learn if a bicycle trail is planned along the local section of the corridor near your community. Working closely with Texas Bicycle Coalition and local cyclists, the TxDOT Austin District led the way in trail planning by making right-of-way available along SH130 for a bicycle trail.
Hearings are being held throughout the state until August 10. Visit the calendar of public hearings for more information. Public comments can also be submitted through the Keep Texas Moving website.

Help Send Coalition Staff to National Advocacy Conferences |
Tuesday, 18 July 2006 |
Please consider donating your frequent flier miles or points to support Texas Bicycle Coalition staff development. The Coalition needs frequent flier miles to send staff members to two upcoming national bicycle advocacy conferences: the Thunderhead Alliance Retreat and the Pro Walk/Pro Bike Conference in Madison, Wisconsin, both in September.
By participating in these conferences and networking with other bicycle advocacy and education professionals, the Coalition staff gains valuable advocacy skills that they can then implement in Texas to improve bicycling conditions and education throughout the state. With the upcoming legislative session, it is even more important that staff receive the quality advocacy training that these two conferences provide. If you have enough miles or points to donate for a round-trip ticket, please contact us at
