Tips
Tips
on getting through registration
and checking results
Registration closes 30 minutes before the start of
each race: Beginner, Sport, and Expert.
Plan on arriving at the venue 1 ½ to 2 hours
before your race start time. At many race sites, parking
is far from registration and lines can slow things
down.
The
first and most obvious way to speed up registration
is to pre-register for all your races. This will save
you money! If you figure the cost of late entry fees
versus pre-entry fees, it’s pretty easy to understand
that pre-registering for 6 events costs the same,
or less, than late registration for 5 – SO YOU
GET ONE RACE FREE! As well, many races offer free
T-shirts to pre-registered riders. Fill out the form
in the TMBRA Newsletter or website, make copies and
mail with your check before the deadlines shown.
Race
Day Registration
1.
Fill out a USA Cycling Standard
Athlete's Entry Blank and Release Form. To save
time you can bring this form to the race already completed.
2.
Check the One Day License box in the upper left corner
if you do not have an annual license.
All
participants must have a license. Annual licenses
are for sale at each venue. It is recommended that
you purchase your annual license at a race so that
you will have a receipt until your new license is
received. One Day licenses are available at each race.
National rankings, etc. require an annual license.
3.
Have your license checked by the official.
4A.
If Pre-Registered - Go to the Pre-Registration station
and exchange your Release Form for you race number.
YOU ARE READY TO RACE!!!!
4B.
If NOT Pre-Registered - Proceed to the cashier and
pay for your race and license if necessary.
5.
Now take your Release Form to one of the computer
entry stations. This is when any changes such as your
address, Team Name, or change of race class should
be made. Just ask the computer operator to update
your entry. The computer operator will take your Release
Form and give you your race number.
Always
verify that you are registered in the correct age,
gender, and category.
DO
NOT BEND, CUT, FOLD, PUT STICKERS ON, WRITE ON, OR
IN ANY OTHER WAY, ALTER YOUR RACE NUMBER. ATTACH YOUR
RACE NUMBER TO THE FRONT OF YOUR BIKE IN SUCH A WAY
THAY THE SCORING STAFF CAN EASILY SEE YOUR NUMBER.
Tips
for after the race
DO
NOT TALK TO THE SCORING STAFF AT THE FINISH LINE.
To help the scoring crew, call out your bib number
when crossing the line. To ensure that your placing
is correct, also make note of the rider who crosses
the line just behind or just in front of you. If you
do not know them, introduce yourself, as one of the
greatest benefits of this sport is the new friends
we all make. By doing this, if you are part of the
1% of riders whose bib number is missed, or written
down wrong, we can easily make the correction.
Most
importantly, DO NOT ask the scoring crew how you finished.
Finish orders will be posted within minutes after
your crossing the line.
In
the event your bib number was not written down, or
written down incorrectly, your newfound friend will
be able to help establish your proper placing.
When
the majority of riders in a class have crossed the
line, the results will be posted. Any rider who feels
their placing is not correct may, at this time, file
a formal protest with the NORBA official. The NORBA
official may require a protest fee of $20 in order
to hear a protest. This fee will be refunded if the
protest is upheld, and it may not be if it is denied.
If
you feel a rider was unsportsmanlike in their conduct
on the racecourse, bring this to the attention of
the NORBA official. Witnesses to the conduct in question
will be required before any action may be taken.
