1989 opinion of the Office of the Attorney General of Texas regarding the authority of municipalities to prohibit the use of bicycles on roadways. The opinion was provided in response to an inquiry made by Representative David Cain, Chariman of the House Transportation Committee at that time.
This flyer, developed by the Texas Bicycle Coalition's BikeTexas Safe Routes to School staff, in cooperation with and funding from the City of Amarillo, was included in the Amarillo December Water Utility Bill sent to all Amarillo residents. The flyer includes frequently asked questions and answers about safely cycling on Amarillo's new bicycle lane network. This is a great example of a city recognizing the benefits of and reaching out to it's residents on behalf of, and in support of, the BikeTexas Safe Routes to School Program and bicycle friendly communities.
